2:35 pm — As a newfound vegetarian, I was nervous about how I was going to find foods that I actually enjoy eating. Sure, I can stuff down veggies in order to survive, but if food isn’t delicious, what’s the point of eating it? Luckily, I have been able to broaden my horizons, and I’ve found some tasty alternatives right here in Campustown that are sure to add some zest to the typical vegetable fare.
Fried mushrooms from Niro’s Gyro’s, 301 E. Green St., are surprisingly delicious. I tend to enjoy cooked mushrooms in general, but when they are wrapped in a delicious deep fried breading, they are irresistible. For $2.99 you can score yourself 10 large mushrooms, which is enough to tide you over between meals. You can also tack on a veggie pita for $3 more if you’re feeling extra hungry.
The Vegetarian sandwich from Jimmy John’s is to die for. I’ve always been a fan of JJ’s Turkey Tom, but once I decided that killing defenseless animals was no longer my thing, I was forced to start enjoying the veggie sub. At first the description including a “real avocado spread” sounded unappealing, but once I took the risk, I was addicted. There’s something about the slightly acid green condiment that delights my taste buds and leaves them pleading for more.
New to Campustown, Penn Station brings fresh cooked veggies into hungry stomachs, packed with flavors and extras. They currently boast two veggie subs, the grilled artichoke and the grilled vegetarian. Although my fear of artichoke has prevented me from trying that sandwich, the grilled veggie is delectable. Packed with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, banana peppers and a host of seasonings and spreads, this sandwich packs a punch. I’ve found the bland taste of veggies can be overcome with spicy alternatives. Make sure you order this sandwich with the banana peppers and the spicy-brown mustard and your throat with start screaming at you with joy.

Maybelline. CoverGirl. Almay. M A C. Urban Decay. Tarte. Beauty products have come a long way from the days when their purpose was just to make a woman look pretty for a man. The crimson lips, vamped nails and smoky eyes standard to an older era have given way to a myriad of new products and a constantly changing outlook on beauty. Not that the classics are outdated by any means. But now, women are using makeup as a way to express themselves as well as enhance their beauty. I know that personally, I like to base my makeup off whatever mood I’m in. And with my multiple personalities, my makeup is never the same for too long!
So why am I an expert on beauty and thus qualified to write a weekly blog? Well, I don’t claim to be. However, I do know a lot about makeup and beauty products. I am an avid and long-time reader of beauty magazines, I buy loads of new makeup pretty much every week and I am probably a little more into my appearance than is healthy. Plus, I am absolutely not getting paid to do this, so you know I will be completely honest about what I like and don’t like. And who knows more about beauty than a slightly narcissistic beauty junkie?
That all being said, welcome to the first post of my new blog dedicated to making you look fabulous! Each week I will be reviewing a new beauty product that I have personally sampled to help you lovely readers decide what looks good and most important, what really works.
Today, I have chosen to review a favorite lip gloss that I have been the proud owner of for over a year. It is InColor Lip Jelly Juicy Tints in “03 Watermelon Delite” by Jordana. This aptly named gloss is the ultimate in yummy, candy pink glosses. The hot pink hue looks a little intimidating in the jar, but it goes on sheer with just a subtle hint of color. It is not sticky and is very lightweight, which is perfect for a day lip. Plus, this is a gloss that will have your boyfriend trying to sneak more kisses because it tastes exactly like a watermelon jolly rancher.
I personally wear it both during the day and night by itself, (it is really just that good and I haven’t gotten sick of it yet!) but it works quite nicely over a regular lip color. It is currently sold at Walgreens here in the CU at the price of… $1.99!
So what exactly are you waiting for? Even if you don’t wear lip gloss that often, give it a try. For that price, you can afford to use it once and toss it if it holds no appeal. Or if you’re really generous, give it to one of your gal pals. Trust me, someone will want it. I actually just went out and bought two more for myself as it has tremendous staying power and I know that I will continue to use it as long as I can get my hands on it!

1:29 am — Yes way! Everyone’s favorite Comedic News show has stopped into our community!
Well I managed to catch up with the correspondent leading the feature story crew through the twists and turns of green street and had a brief sit down at one of the local eateries.
That interview will be posted very soon, so be sure to check back here at DI On the Town for the scoop.
