UNOFFICIAL OPEN THREAD

10:50 pm —

Oh, how I wish I could code in some green color scheme for this occasion.

Use this thread to chronicle your experiences on this day of all days. Meet someone famous? Puke on someone famous? Break any personal or institutional records? Did you defy the administration and go to class drunk?

Or are you a disgusted citizen of Chambana who has to stay inside all weekend due to the wild behavior?

Post your thoughts here. In addition, if you’ve got some interesting or funny pictures from today, send them to opinions@dailyillini.com and I may post the best ones.

Above all else, be careful out there.

***Thanks to Lisa B of Exploding Aardvark for the coding tip. Cheers!

Easy enough. Just throw in a [font color=”green”] tag.

For the record, I’m a Chambanite who’ll be out at her usual Friday night bar downtown, and the only impact Unofficial will likely make on me this year will be the inevitable mini-invasion of students all wearing the same shirt and not quite knowing how or what to order. (Cheat sheet: Stand respectfully at the bar until you catch the barkeep’s eye; no calling out or waving money. Try not to annoy the regulars either. And order Guinness and/or a halfway decent whiskey, and tip a buck per drink, whatever it is.)

I think that the two basketball players who were in the wreck should also be thrown off the team. Our basketball and football teams in Champaign serve as role models and hero’s to local kids. Even if you don’t want to be a role model, you are. Also, this is my government tax money paying for your education and you go and screw up. There should be a ZERO-tolerance policy for the sports at the U of I. I commend coach Zook for releasing the two players off his team, but I don’t think that Weber see’s this the same. What if the players didn’t hit a tree, but a car carrying a 4 yo child? Would we still have the tolerance we are having! No. Remove these players from the team, they are only degrading our reputation and set a bad example for future players. They need to be made examples of so that the coaches have a reference to point to in the future.

    KICK THEM OFF THE TEAM!!!
