Thank you University maintenance!

10:00 pm —
Alma Mater

I noticed today on my way home from the office that the slab walkway surrounding the Alma Mater had been repaired. Recently, many of the panels suffered from being on uneven ground and decaying mounts. More than once have I stumbled when one of the stones shifts as I walk on it. But as of this evening, it seems that the area around the Alma Mater statue is fully stable and it also looks like a beautification effort is underway at the corner of Wright and Green.

In addition to these repairs, the sidewalks around campus are finally getting back to normal with the removal of all manner of spray chalk/paint/whatever. The cleanup from student elections and the like has probably been a much heavier burden for the maintenance department this year and they deserve some gratitude. They’re dirty jobs, but it looks like they’re being done well.

Mayhaps we should suggest our University maintenance crew to the Discovery Channel “Dirty Jobs” show?
