The last WWI veteran.

8:25 pm —

I know it’s my third post today, but this article is unbelievable:

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/12/opinion/12rubin.html?_r=1&th&emc=th&oref=slogin

It’s shocking, but this article says there is only one World War I vet left. It’s kinda sad that people probably won’t take any more notice of Frank Buckles until he dies. Then the headlines will scream: Last WWI vet died today. Too bad we can’t give him more honor now while he’s alive to recieve it.

My brother is married to Mr. Buckles only daughter. I must say, he is an absolutely amazing man… He has a photo of his grandfather in the house and told my brother that he remembers sitting on his grandfathers knee while his grandfather spoke about sitting on his own grandfathers knee(who was in the Revolutionary War!) How is that for history!!! An extremely polite man, with the manners of only those we read of long ago. Funny too…and extremely sharp… I love when I have the opportunity to sit and talk with him.
