Guidry to retire Saturday

10:43 am —

The “King of Chicago” is calling it quits Saturday.

NTRA.com is reporting Mark Guidry will ride Bel Air Beauty in the Mrs. Revere Stakes at Churchill Downs and his 32-year career will be over.

In 1986 Guidry moved from Louisiana to Fairmount Park in Collinsvile, Ill., and then on to the Chicago tracks. He recorded two leading rider titles at Arlington Park, seven at Hawthorne and nine at Sportsman’s.

He was inducted into the Hawthorne Hall of Fame in 1997 and was given a special “Legend in Racing” honor at Arlington this past August.

Guidry has 5,042 career wins and 76 in 2007. He plans to become a racing official after he retires.
